A sneak preview of Catamaran Slipstream:

What happens when you take a well-established charter yacht, combine her with an experienced charter crew, and top it off with an enticing charter package? You end up with an exciting addition to the Virgin Islands charter yacht fleet and a fabulous sailing vacation just waiting to be experienced. But hurry...this particular cat is about to be let out of the bag...when Slipstream is featured at the upcoming St. Thomas charter yacht show in November!

We happen to know this particular yacht extremely well as we shared an anchorage with her for many years while in St. Thomas, have continuously had her on our featured catamaran listing, and also had the opportunity to step aboard her at last years charter yacht show.

The yacht’s layout:

Slipstream is a 51’ Privilege catamaran with an ideal layout for 6 adults. Three equal cabins contain Queen-sized beds, en suite baths, and air conditioning.

While this yacht can accommodate 8 adults, the fourth available cabin is uniquely suited for children or young adults. This cabin is centrally located just off the main salon and contains a elongated Queen bed, en suite toilet and wall mounted TV/DVD/Playstation. The private sink and shower for this cabin can be found nearby in the starboard walkway. The “tree house type” feel of this cabin and its reduced headroom make it a favourite for younger guests.

The centrally located salon is spacious, open, and casually-elegant. Featuring expansive windows, extensive entertainment systems and seating for up to 10 guests, this is a comfortable area to gather or dine with family or friends. Guests are always welcome to indulge in the salon’s upgraded media centre which includes a new 27 inch flat screen TV with surround sound and DVD player, movie collection with over 500 selections, stereo system with new IPOD and new marine speaker system, and music library with over 10,000 selections.

Outdoor spaces:

Slipstream’s adjacent covered cockpit only adds to the overall feeling of spaciousness aboard. This covered and shaded area is an ideal spot for lounging about, to take in the scenery while Slipstream is under sail, or for casual gatherings, such as breakfasts or lunches served al-fresco. In addition to the comforts of the cockpit, guests will also find two large trampolines on the foredeck - a favourite spot for those in pursuit of a thrill-seeking sail, the ultimate tan, or another evening under a blanket of stars!

Toys aboard:

Toy selections include all the popular and necessary favourites - 14’ dinghy with 40 hp engine, knee board, water skis, slalom ski, tube, wake board, 2-man kayak, swim noodles, sun floats, snorkel gear and 10 full sets of SCUBA gear. Quite simply, you’ll never run out of things to do!

Recent upgrades:

Recent upgrades include new exterior cushions and upholstery, new salon cushions and upholstery, redecorated guest cabins with new linens and original artwork, Sony Play Station in the “young adult” cabin, plus lots of fresh varnish!

Captain and Owner Len Amato, a native of Colorado, holds a 100-ton U.S. Coast Guard master license and has been sailing the waters of the Virgin Islands as a crewed charter yacht captain for for over 11 years. Len is also a certified PADI Dive Instructor, has completed dive certifications for over 400 divers, and has personally logged over 7,000 dives. Len’s hands-on charter experience and first hand knowledge of the islands, both above and below the water, make him ideally suited as a charter yacht captain. Pair this with his great sense of humour and easy going nature - and he’s hard to beat!

Chef Donna:

Chef Donna Baran brings an interesting mixture of talents to the table aboard Slipstream. Donna has explored the Caribbean off and on for 35 years. She fell in love with sailing on her first trip to the Virgin Islands in the 70’s. In a previous position as a “Sensory Expert” Donna specialized in analyzing flavours, textures and aromas of foods as well as beverages. She was able to apply and expand this knowledge while later working as an events planner and personal chef. Donna has found an ideal situation as Chef aboard Slipstream - one which allows her to combine her culinary background with a love of sailing. Her cooking style reflects her passion for exotic cultures, and includes a blend of Caribbean, Indian, Thai and Japanese flavours. Donna is an avid hiker who is always willing to share the many trails of the Virgin Islands with her guests.
