Situated on the northern face of the Huab River Valley and looking south toward the imposing Brandberg Mountains, Damaraland Camp offers its guests endless vistas.

Early morning mists generated by the clash between the icy Atlantic Ocean and the warm desert air of the Skeleton Coast, drift inland along the river sand canyon, providing sustenance to the flora and fauna of the region. This comfortable and friendly camp offers walks and drives in one of the best wilderness areas in Namibia.

Although wildlife is not concentrated, Damaraland Camp is situated where the rare Desert Elephant roams, alongside Gemsbok (Oryx), Springbok, Ostrich and other hardy desert animals. Rare succulent plants somehow manage to eke out an existence in this harsh countryside.

Damaraland Camp has 10 tented rooms each with an en-suite bathroom including flush toilet and shower with hot and cold running water. A laundry service is offered.

Desert Rhino Camp is situated in the 1-million-acre private Palmwag Reserve in northwest Namibia, between Etosha and the Skeleton Coast - few places on the planet can offer this level of privacy and wilderness experience.

This desert reserve has a number of fresh water springs that support healthy populations of animals including desert adapted Back Rhino and Elephants as well as large populations of the rare Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra, Giraffe, Oryx, Springbok and Kudu. The predator population is the largest outside of the Etosha National Park with over 100 Lions, Cheetah, Leopard, Brown and Spotted Hyaena. Bird life is prolific and diverse with most of Namibia’s endemics present.

Desert Rhino Camp has eight large East African-styled “Meru” tents each with an en-suite bathroom comprising hand basin, flush toilet and a classic bucket shower that is filled with hot water whenever needed. The tented dining room offers uninterrupted views of the desert and mountains. Welwitschia (ancient desert adapted plants) plants dot the plain in front of the camp. The primary activity is rhino tracking which is usually by vehicle until a sighting is made by trackers and then on foot. Guests can also enjoy full day outings, with a picnic lunch, on the reserve.

Doro Nawas Camp is situated in the ruggedly beautiful Damaraland area, on a small, rocky outcrop within the floodplain of a small tributary of the Huab River. This camp is a joint venture between Namibian investors, the local Doro !Nawas community and Wilderness Safaris. The camp is located in the valley of the dry Aba-Huab River with spectacular views of the Etendeka Mountains to the north and the red sandstone cliffs of Twyfelfontein (famous for its San rock engravings) to the south.

The unique lodge design allows for an unspoilt panoramic view of this diverse and dramatic landscape, which varies from tabletop outcrops, small canyons, dry riverbeds to savannah and grassland vistas. The magnificent terrain holds all the possibility for a sighting of the rare desert-adapted elephant while enjoying a nature drive or relaxing, viewing the stars from the rooftop of the main area or from your private unit veranda.

Guests are housed in 16 units which combine natural stone and canvas walls with wood and glass doors, shaded by a thatch roof. The design and décor blends into the surrounding scenery, with attention to comfort and luxury in these sometimes-abrasive semi-arid desert conditions. Each unit consists of a bedroom that leads out to a veranda and outdoor shower. En-suite facilities include a shower, ‘his and her’ basins and a flush toilet.

Namibia’s Skeleton Coast is one of our planet’s most beautiful places and is now host to one of our finest safaris. Over much of the past decade, access to this private area within the National Park has been restricted. However, in April 2000 we opened our 12-bedded, luxury tented camp and we can now offer superb 4 or 5 day fly-in safaris to this incredible area, with guaranteed departures every Wednesday and Saturday.

Close on 300,000 hectares (660,000 acres) of the National Park has been set aside as an exclusive safari experience for those who want to really get away! It is wild, desolate and uninhabited - and stunningly beautiful.

Skeleton Coast Camp is a six-roomed luxury tented camp in the heart of Skeleton Coast Park within the private concession area. It is built on an island in the dry Khumib riverbed, about 20km inland from the coastline. Each of the 6 tents is large, roomy and has a en-suite bathroom. We have a wonderful old gnarled Leadwood tree which offers shelter from the elements, and makes for a shady dining room for our outdoor meals.

Because of the uniqueness and vastness of this area, most activities are done in 4x4 vehicles that are closed to the elements. All vehicles have pop-top roofs and sliding windows to enjoy the fine weather. There is however plenty of opportunity to walk and stretch the legs too. Activities include either full-day nature drives or walks with a picnic lunch, returning to camp in the evening, or half-day nature drives or walks returning to camp for lunch and venturing out again in the afternoon.

Excursions may include visits to the clay castles of the Hoarusib River, Rocky Point, the roaring dunes, lichen fields, seal colonies, Himba villages, shipwreck sites and secret water seeps that attract wildlife like oryx, springbok, giraffe, ostrich, brown hyaena, jackal and other smaller mammals. Walking also plays a part in the activities; due to the pristine nature of this area many parts are accessible only on foot, as vehicle tracks can damage the environment. Many specially adapted species of plants like Lithops and Welwitschia can be visited in this way.

The terrain is rugged and harsh, hence this camp will be enjoyed by those who are looking for a true wilderness experience, in some of the most spectacular scenery in southern Africa.

The camp is situated on a 21 000 hectare private reserve, 20 kilometres from Sesriem, the Park’s entrance to the Sossusvlei dunes. The camp’s location provides easy access to Sossusvlei via a private entrance, yet also offers privacy and exclusivity. The camp has been built near the top of a mountain, using rock, brick, timber and thatch and provides a comfortable refuge from the desert. We have 9 guest rooms, each with its own private plunge pool. The bedrooms are well appointed and offer comfort and atmosphere with wonderful views onto the desert plains below. The en-suite bathrooms have panoramic views with both hot and cold running water, showers and flush toilets. The main living area is under thatch with an outdoor deck for dinner under the stars. Activities centre round early morning excursions in 4x4 vehicles to the magnificent Sossusvlei dunes and the “vlei” itself. Wonderful desert breakfasts are served under camel-thorn acacias surrounded by the dunes. Afternoon nature drive or walking activities are enjoyed on the property where guests can spend time taking in the desert scenery and its unique fauna and flora. Incredible ballooning safaris over the Namib are optional and at additional cost.
